I write this blog today on September 2013, so that at present day, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has 28  operating  years already, since its first start functioning in 1985.  After the name of first President and Vice President of Indonesia, DR.Ir.Soekarno and Dr.Drs.H.Mohammad Hatta, it replaced the old Airports of Kemayoran and Halim Perdanakusuma.  As we can see on the map, it is located in the west side of Jakarta, Tangerang city in Banten Province to be more specific.  Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is one of several Indonesia's entry point for tourists and visitors from all over the globe.  So that, It has to be a positive reflection shining out from it, describing the soul of Indonesia nation. At least I hope it will always be in the good way.

Terminal-1

This is a domestic flight terminal that consist of 3 sub-terminal. It has one level of departure and arrival gate consecutively, 7 boarding rooms for departure in each sub-terminal: A1-A7, B1-B7, and C1-C7. Connecting most of the cities in Indonesia, Terminal-1 is now overloaded in capacity.  It starting capacity is only 9 million passengers per year and the growth has become more than 50 million passengers per year 2013. Please don't bother to imagine how hectic terminal-1 is today. The Airlines that occupy Terminal-1:
  1. Terminal-1A: Lion Air (all domestic flights excluding flights to Sumatra Island) and Wings Air.
  2. Terminal-1B: Lion Air (all domestic flights to Sumatra Island), Sriwijaya Air, Express Air.
  3. Terminal-1C: Garuda Citilink, Batavia Air, Kal Star Aviation, Trigana Air, Aviastar, and Airfast Indonesia.

Terminal-2

Almost all international flight occupying 2 sub-terminal, while the other sub-terminal is dedicated for local Airlines owned by the government. It is a bit different layout then Terminal-1, because it has the upper level for departure and the lower level for arrival main gate, but consists of the same breakdown of boarding room for departure: D1-D7, E1-E7, and F1-F7.  Terminal-2D and 2E are all for international flights, meanwhile Terminal 2F is for another domestic flight.  The Airlines that occupy Terminal-2:
  1. Terminal-2D: JAL, Cebu Air, Cathay Pacific, JetStar, Singapore Air, Lion Air, Mihin Lanka, Omar Air, Emirates, Malaysia Air, Philippine Air, Qatar Air, Kuwait Air, Qantas, Royal Brunei Air, Sichuan Air, Tiger Air, Turkish Air, U Airlines, Yemenia Air
  2. Terminal-2E: China Airline, Southern China Airline, Air China, All Nippon Airways, Etihad, Eva Air, KLM, Korean Air, Saudia, Thai Air, Vietnam Air, Garuda Indonesia, and Sriwijaya Air.
  3. Terminal-2F: Garuda Indonesia and Merpati Nusantara (all domestic flights)

Terminal-3

To be honest, this is my favorite terminal until now, because it new, lower traffic, spacious, and kind of simple and more friendly.  First operation in April 2009, Terminal-3 has a different concept than the previous 2.  More modern, but efficient and Eco-friendly, this terminal will be a transition concept into the next development of other airports in Indonesia.   Nowadays there are three Airlines who occupy this terminal: Air Asia (domestic and international), Lion Air (to Bali), and Mandala Airlines.

Please be noted, that future re-arrangement of Airlines in Terminals might be changed for no substantial reasons for us the passenger.  So I suggest you keep updating the Airlines occupancies in Terminals, before your arrival or departure, since sometimes, missing the the guide to go to the correct Terminal, could be disaster to your trip plans and budget. So don't miss it.
